The Case for The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic

“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”  -2 Corinthians

While the nutjobs on cable news obsess over every sneeze, cough and burp of their Washington DC overlords, the solution to our nation’s impending demise is found in our Constitution.  Our Founders knew it would be necessary to amend the Constitution and they provided two ways to do it in Article 5. It reads:

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses of Congress shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States or by Convention in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress…

To this day, the Constitution has been Amended twenty-seven times to protect our freedom of religion and speech, and our right to bear arms.  The Amendment process has also been used to abolish slavery (something the US Supreme Court ruled to be Constitutional in their Dred Scott v. Sanford decision), to give women the right to vote, and to remove barriers for African-Americans in the south to vote by outlawing so-called “poll taxes”.  Each of those times, the first method was used.  The second method provided by our Founders, although it has been tried, now lies dormant.  I recommend we use it, as there is no other way to prevent the unknown and unthinkable consequences of the gross mismanagement and utter incompetence of our so-called representatives in Washington DC.

The United States of America is headed for the abyss.  Uncontrolled spending and borrowing is bringing our beloved nation to its knees, quickly.  We have seen one consequence of a country getting to this point in Spain and in Cyprus, where personal bank accounts were frozen and confiscated by their government.  There are over $2 trillion sitting in personal retirement accounts in America and over $90 trillion in unfunded liabilities if you include Medicare, Medicaid and unfunded pensions, according to the government’s own numbers (this does NOT include Obamacare).

But our God is a God of lifelines, and there is hope:  Real, tangible, realistic hope.   In The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic, Former Chief-of-Staff to Ronald Reagan’s justice department and Constitutional lawyer Mark R. Levin has proposed eleven Amendments to the Constitution and suggests using the second method provided, where on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States or by Convention in three fourths thereof.  Levin provides legal backing for each of his proposed amendments, the first of which would restrict Congress to twelve years in office, after which they will be ineligible for re-election.  Also, anyone in Congress who is already over that twelve year mark would be ineligible for re-election.    The genius of this method is that it bypasses the narcissists in Washington DC and their legions of sociopaths that litter the cable news channels.  Also, it is going to be fun.  We are going to make history ladies and gentlemen!  What a wonderful time to be alive!  Now let’s get to work.Image

TERRORIST STRIKES AMERICA’S CAPITOL ON 9/11 ANNIVERSARY

When I say I do not pay attention to the media, I mean I do not pay any attention to the media.  At all.

Today, I found out that a terrorist working as a contractor for the US NAVY carried out his mission and brutally murdered 12 civilian workers as they ate lunch.  Now this animal, who moved to Washington DC just three weeks before carrying out his mission, is being called “crazy” and “insane” by America’s diabolical cable television and print news media.

This was a radical extremist carrying out Jihad, just like the other 34 Islamic terrorist attacks that have taken place in America since 9/11/2001.  You know it and I know it.  He is not crazy at all.  The only crazy people I see are the ones who get their news from a television set.

My deepest prayers go to the twelve families who have lost a mother, father, sister, brother, mom, dad and friend.Image

Finally, The Pendulum Begins to Swing Back

In a pleasant turn of events, New York City voters rejected disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner in today’s mayoral primary.  This came as a huge shock.  I was not sure how much further the pendulum was going to swing in the direction of the deviant, disgusting, and proud of it before it would finally start to swing back in the direction of God and his two friends, morality and decency.  It could not have come on a better day.  A day when America, and especially New Yorkers, recall a time when a respectable, albeit imperfect mayor was leading the financial capital of the world through the most tragic time in their history.

Until today I could not have cared less about the New York City battle for the seat formerly held by Rudy Giuliani, who like all of us, is imperfect.  But do we demand perfection from our leaders?  Would that even make sense?  Of course not.  The only perfect person to ever walk the earth was strung up and murdered by the political leaders of His time.  Since then, a perfect person has not been yet born.  That does not mean that we must settle for the Weiners of the world, who are much less than merely imperfect.

This may seem of little significance to you if you do not live in New York, however, I see it as a sign that the pendulum may be starting to swing back in the right direction in the United States.  Morality is making a comeback, and the timing could not be more perfect.  The time is ripe for strong Christian leaders to step up and lead.  There is no Biblical reason for us to sit on the sidelines.  Let’s reclaim our United States for Jesus Christ, the Lord of the Universe, on whose principles this nation was built.
